Chief FHA Underwriter
As Chief FHA Underwriter, Duncan S. Mendelsohn oversees the FHA pipeline and underwriting department at Dwight Capital. In addition to developing and implementing FHA underwriting processes at Dwight Capital, Duncan and his credit team provide guidance during the loan origination stage and upon engagement, they manage each transaction through to successful loan closing.
Holding a license as an FHA underwriter, Duncan has underwritten approximately $750MM in closed FHA transactions across the United States. These transactions have included multiple product types such as multifamily and healthcare, market-rate and affordable, as well as existing and new construction. Prior to joining Dwight Capital, Duncan served as Vice President and Senior FHA Underwriter at Capital One (formerly Beech Street Capital). There he assisted in the creation and implementation of policies and procedures in the FHA Underwriting Department, and was a voting member of the FHA Credit Committee. Duncan began his career as a transaction manager at Metropolitan Funding Corp. where he was in charge of managing accounts, coordinating loan sizing, and underwriting and closing for approximately $500MM in FHA transactions.
Duncan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Financial Economics. In addition to his academic achievements, Duncan has engaged in various philanthropic pursuits, most recently as a member of the Board of Directors of The Water Trust, an international development non-profit organization providing clean water and sanitation services to East Africa.
